to Neighbourhood Watch in The Grange
Neighbourhood
Watch. A brief summary.
Neighbourhood
watch is a regional initiate which offers communities in Northern
Ireland the opportunity to positively influence community safety in
their areas, and reduce crime, the fear of crime and anti social behavior
in their neighbourhoods. The scheme is administered and funded by the
Community Safety Unit in partnership with the PSNI, and the Northern
Ireland Policing Board.
The aim
of Neighbourhood Watch is to help people protect themselves and their
property, and to reduce the reduce the fear of crime by:
Improved home security
Greater vigilance
Fostering Community spirit
Improving your environment
Anyone in the
Ballygowan area who might be interested in starting a scheme can ring
Albert Spratt on 97528676 or Brian Ashe on 97521073, for advice.
There are
already schemes in operation in these areas, The Brae, Ardmore Heights,
Ardmore Grange, The Granary, and Ardmore Manor.
One of the most
important features of these schemes is the Text Alert Facility. When a
person becomes a member, he or she submits his or her Mobile number to
the PSNI, you will receive a warning via text to your Mobile. This
enables you to be extra vigilant in protecting your property and
possessions.
We hope
this summary might create some interest in other areas of Ballygowan so
that together we can make the village and surrounding areas a safer
environment for us all.
Albert Spratt
and Brian Ashe.
