Ballycloughan enjoys an attractive rural setting with extensive grounds which includes a secret garden with a pond. Our well maintained grounds provide great opportunities for creative outdoor play and environmental studies adding a further dimension to our children’s learning.

The teaching staff currently consists of the Acting Principal, two assistant teachers, one part-time teacher for principal release and one classroom assistants. The experienced staff enable the school to offer a broad based curriculum, with proficiency in all subject areas.  All our classes are composite which enhances the strong family ethos which pervades the school. The clerical staff, caretaker, lunch-time supervisors and school meals staff contribute greatly to the smooth running of the school and play a vital role in the welfare, care and educational development of the pupils.

The school aims to provide for the intellectual, physical, moral and spiritual needs of all pupils in a broad, balanced curriculum which is rich in stimulating educational experiences in a pleasant, happy, secure environment.  This allows each child to grow and develop in all aspects of life.

The development of high levels of competence in basic skills, together with positive personal and social attitudes, is reflected in the ethos and atmosphere in the school and children are encouraged to contribute in the wider community.

High standards of personal achievement are encouraged with the building of self confidence and the ability to investigate and explore the world around.

Weekly drama workshops provide excellent opportunities to develop self expression and self confidence.

School trips to various locations are arranged each year to enhance the work undertaken in the classroom.  Older pupils may attain Achievement Awards in gymnastics, swimming and cycling proficiency.  After school clubs provide enjoyment and opportunity to develop new skills. An annual residential trip is organised for P6/P7 when self-confidence is developed as they engage in team games and outdoor activities e.g. canoeing, abseiling and archery.

We value our partnership with parents and encourage them to become eager participants in their children’s learning.  Our parents take a very active role in the total education and are most supportive in attending school functions and parent/teacher consultations. Ballycloughan enjoys the benefits of an enthusiastic PTA providing a wide range of social and fund raising events.

The members of the Board of Governors are strongly supportive of the staff team, keenly interested in all aspects of school life and meet regularly to fulfil their management role.

We are very proud of our school.  Should you require any further information about Ballycloughan, please email or phone.  If you are driving past we would love you to call in and visit.
